Cultured Pearls
The forming of a pearl starts by inserting a small (1mm x 1mm) piece of mantle tissue from the inner lining of a donor mussel into the harvesting mussel. The piece causes irritation to the mussel, which responds by slowly surrounding the piece with it's Nacre (the Mother of Pearls) until it becomes a pearl. It can take several months up to years before high quality pearls are fully formed.
During the pearl formation the mussels are protected in underwater pearl farms in freshwater lakes. When mussels have completed forming the pearls with it's nacre, the pearls are harvested by hand and selected by size, shape, quality, luster and color. 98% of these pearls are not perfectly round. The majority of freshwater pearls are oval and button shaped, and so are the pearls that we offer. We only use the best pearls selected by their high quality and luster.
Real Pearls
The colors of pearls we offer in our Pearl Jewelry are shades of white, pink, and purple. The beautiful color of the pearls is natural. None of the pearls we offer are dyed or colored. Pearls of the same color are used together in jewelry pieces to match each other.
Freshwater Pearls are 100% Pure. The piece that was inserted into the mussel, was a piece of pearl material from a mussel's inner shell lining, which was then surrounded by the mussel with the same pearl material (nacre). Therefore there is no other material (shell bead nucleus) at its center; it is a 100% Pure Pearl.
